The company Sistema Produtor São Lourenço S.A. (SPSL S.A.) is a special purpose entity, established in 2013, with the purpose of developing the public-private partnership (PPP) for providing operation and maintenance services for the dehydration, drying, and final disposal system of sludge, as well as for maintaining the São Lourenço Producer System, and for executing the works of this venture, owned by the Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo – SABESP.
In May 2018, the shares of SPSL S.A. were acquired by the Chinese group China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC), through its subsidiary CGGC Construtora do Brasil Ltda., representing a significant milestone for the group and its first investment in Brazil.
Founded in 1970, CGGC is a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group Co. Ltd., and engages in project, construction, investment, and operation of ventures in various construction sectors, including water supply, sanitation, environmental protection, hydropower, thermal power, wind power, nuclear power, power transmission, industrial facilities, railways, highways, bridges, ports, and airports, among others. As a transnational operating company with rapid growth in China, CGGC has expanded its business to over 100 countries, ranking among the top 100 companies in the ENR Top 250 International Contractors.
