WHY DOES OUR COMPANY NEED AN ETHICS CHANNEL?
Our company has a Code of Conduct to state its principles and values. In addition to the current legislation, the Code serves as a guide to the attitudes and behaviour expected of all employees, third parties and business partners.
However, there can always be some malicious person, who can put others (employees, third parties and business partners) at risk. The Ethics Channel has been implemented to consider this risk so that you can report any activity that you believe is contrary to legislation or our Code of Conduct.
HOW DOES THE CHANNEL WORK?
The Channel is managed by an independent and completely impartial company called Contato Seguro. Identifying or suspecting any irregularity, you can report it by accessing the Channel on Furukawa’s website (www.furukawalatam.com), or directly on www.contatoseguro.com.br/en/furukawa or by calling, without cost, 0800 600 3250 (just in Brazil).
The Channel operates 24 hours a day and notifications or suggestions are received by Contato Seguro’s specialists, who are responsible for forwarding them for analysis, investigation and solution.
When you make a notification or suggestion, you receive a protocol number so that you can track the progress and solution of your report.
CAN I BE IDENTIFIED?
No. Your contact is processed by an independent company, totally impartial and specialized in taking care to obtain the maximum information about the notification or suggestion without compromising your anonymity. Under no circumstances will your phone number or computer's IP be shared.
WHAT TYPE OF NOTIFICATIONS OR SUGGESTIONS CAN I REPORT THROUGH THE CHANNEL?
You can and should report any behaviour you believe to be incoherent with the behaviour expected from employees, third parties and business partners. All matters which are not in accordance with legislation or with Furukawa’s ethical principles and values should be reported as well.
Here are some examples: fraud, inadequate use of resources, confidential matters disclosure, discrimination, moral coercion, sexual harassment, power abuse, aggression, etc. In addition, you can also use the Channel to suggest improvements that you consider relevant to our company’s progress.
DO I NEED TO HAVE EVIDENCE?
No. After Contato Seguro receives a notification, the matter is referred to an internal committee of our company, which will start an investigation and seek all relevant information to give a correct conclusion to the notification. Action will only be taken when incorrect conduct is confirmed.
If you have any proof, the Contato Seguro system allows you to attach any type of file, photo, video, audio, etc. Even if you make a notification by phone, the attendant will explain how to provide your evidence.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
With the support of the Ethics Channel, Furukawa promotes a culture of transparency, ethics and integrity. In addition, the Channel inhibits conduct contrary to our company principles and values and, as a result, contributes to a better work environment, free of irregularities.
WHO ATTENDS THE CALL AND LISTENS TO THE NOTIFICATIONS?
Contato Seguro has a highly qualified professional team to receive your notifications and suggestions. The team has no relationship with Furukawa and is totally impartial with respect to the notification which you make.
There is no risk that your voice will be identified or the notification known, revealed or even leaked by anyone. Your IP is fully protected and, under no circumstances, the committee responsible for investigating the notification will be able to find out who made any anonymous notifications through the Contato Seguro system.
HOW TO FOLLOW-UP MY NOTIFICATION?
When you make a notification, you will receive a protocol number that can be used to track the progress of your notification. To do so, you should access the Ethics Channel link on Furukawa’s website (www.furukawalatam.com) or use www.contatoseguro.com.br/en/furukawa and select the CHECK YOUR RESPONSE option. If you make a notification over the phone, the attendant will inform you of the protocol number. It is recommended that you write it down and make periodic follow-ups to check the progress of your notification. Eventually, the committee responsible for the notification may request more information, by messages that can only be accessed with this protocol number, and your answer will be extremely important.
